Every greyhound’s journey is different.
Before they’re ready for adoption, each dog is given the time, care and support they need to transition from racing life to life as a pet. That includes appropriate care, assessment and preparation before they’re placed with one of our adoption partners to find the right home. There’s no set timeframe. The focus is on making sure each greyhound is ready for their next chapter, rather than moving them through the process as quickly as possible.
Owners can choose to keep their racing industry greyhounds or transfer them to the ownership of the Transition Agency.
Greyhounds are cared for by experienced greyhound carers.
Greyhounds enter our rehoming preparation programme, where greyhound experts train them to become pets in homes.
Greyhounds are placed with one of our trusted partner adoption agencies.
Greyhounds are matched with the right forever home, and are no longer owned by the Transition Agency.
Adoption takes time, but it’s worth the wait.
Each dog is individually assessed and given the time, training and support needed to adjust to life as a pet and prepare for their new home.
